Explanation

The Format
If you select a manuscript to view or download, all chants from that manuscript will be sent to you either in a fixed format 144 charactes wide (Fixed, 144 characters), or as a Comma Separated Values file (CSV), a format that is easy to import into Microsoft Excel, Access etc.

The Download Method
The default download method is Download as File. with this option you should be asked to save the download as a file. For the CSV version, you should use a file type of .csv. If you double click a .csv file, it will open in Excel (if you have that). You can also directly open a .csv file from Excel.

Should this option somehow not work, use View on Screen, see below.

If you choose View on Screen, the result of the download will be displayed on your screen. You can then try to do a File|Save As, and save the contents in as file. For the CSV version it is best to save as a file with file type .csv.

Unfortunately the above method can be problematic. Here is a sure-fire way in which to save your data:

  1. Once all data is displayed on your screen, select it all. You can do this either via Edit|Select All, or by pressing Ctrl-A.
  2. Once all data is selected (everything will be highlighted), copy it all by either doing Edit|Copy or by pressing Ctrl-V.
  3. Now open Notepad (Start|Accessories|Notepad).
  4. In Notepad do either Edit|Paste or press Ctrl-V.
  5. Finally, in Notepad do File|Save As. For the CSV version, save as something.csv. If you double click a .csv file, it will open in Excel (if you have that). You can also directly open a .csv file from Excel.

If the download takes more than 900 seconds, the download will be terminated prematurely.
